Southern Africa Regional Peer Review on Grid Code Implementation
Lusaka, Zambia In November 2019, Dr. Romkaew Broehm shared her experience and knowledge of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Open Access Transmission Policies with Southern African regulators and their staff during a three-day peer review on Grid Code Implementation. The program was organized by the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) and sponsored by the Power Sector Program, Bureau of Energy Resources, U.S. Department of State, in collaboration with the Regional Electricity Regulation Association of South Africa. Participants included regulators and staff from the Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority, the Electricity Control Board of Namibia, the Energy Regulation Board of Zambia, and the Utility Regulatory Authority of Mauritius. This peer review program supports the Southern Africa Power Pool (SAPP) countries to promote private sector investment and the use of renewable energy sources. The other speakers included Mr. Zachary Branum from the Arizona Corporation Commission and Mr. Raj Rana, Rana Energy Consulting, LLC.
