EGAT Learned About U.S. Wholesale Electricity Trading

Cambridge, MA  In July 2019, the young professionals at the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand visited the U.S.  to participate in the Electricity Market & Trading Workshop organized by RPB Energy Economics LLC (RPBEE).  The workshop participants learned about the U.S. wholesale electricity markets and trading, particularly what encompassed a Locational Marginal Pricing (LMP) market and how to submit offers in a centralized auction.  They interacted with various industry experts through class discussion and site visits.  Their site visits included Sterling’s Municipal Light Department’s energy storage projects, NERC, NAESB, the Southern Company, and PJM.
