Review of Transparency in Electricity Markets

Dr. Romkaew Broehm participated in the Andean Regional Peer Review on Transparency in Integrated Electricity Markets from December 14-16, 2022.  The meeting was organized by the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) and sponsored by the Power Sector Program, Bureau of Energy Resources, U.S. Department of State, in coordination with the Inter-American Development Bank and the participating countries of the Andean electrical interconnection system (SINEA).  Dr. Broehm discussed  the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC’ s) transparency rules and regulations, including the Standards of Conduct and the roles of audit. She provided examples of transparency in the non-RTO power markets.  Participants included government officials, regulators and staff  from Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, and Chile.
